How Demos works

Three mechanics.
One civic system.

DMT is a soulbound digital credential — like a voter registration card, but programmable. It cannot be bought, sold, traded, or speculated on. It exists for one purpose: giving Oregonians a direct, verifiable voice in shared community decisions.

Mechanic 01

Universal Entry

Every Oregon resident receives one DMT — free, automatic, equal. No purchase. No qualification. No exception. Residency is verified once at issuance.

Mechanic 02

Wealth Ceiling

No wallet can accumulate beyond a coded ceiling. Excess flows to a community commons — governed by the same allocation mechanic. Hoarding is structurally impossible.

Mechanic 03

Allocation = Voice

When you allocate tokens to a community program, you simultaneously fund it and register a democratic preference. The aggregate is the real-time public will — no representatives, no interpretation.

Use case 01 — Before & after

Oregon is losing its farms.
Demos can change that.

Oregon loses thousands of family farms every census cycle — not to drought, but to corporate acquisition. When a retiring farmer has no heir, a corporate aggregator buys. Demos lets the community itself organize the alternative.

Without Demos 🏭

Corporate acquisition

Retiring farmers sell to the only buyer with capital — corporate agriculture. The land leaves local hands permanently. Rural communities hollow out.

With Demos 🌾

Community land trust

DMT holders allocate to a Farm Succession Fund. The community organizes the purchase. The farm is leased back to a working farmer at below-market rates. Land stays in Oregon, in trust, in perpetuity.

Wealth can't hoard.
It must circulate.

In every existing economy, value accumulates at the top. In Demos, a hard ceiling is enforced in code. Excess flows automatically to the community commons. Hoarding is structurally impossible.

The Reinvestment Commons

Overflow from the wealth ceiling flows into a shared commons pool — governed by the same allocation mechanic. Citizens vote on how it is deployed.

Wealth that cannot be hoarded does not vanish. It circulates.
Use case 03 — One mechanic

One act.
Two outcomes.

In Demos, allocation and voting are the same action. When you allocate tokens to a program, you simultaneously fund it and register a democratic preference. No election cycle. No representatives. No middlemen.

Triggers
🏛️

The Program

Receives tokens AND a vote. Total allocations = the living community budget.

💧

Tokens flow to the program — real allocation of community resources, not a symbolic gesture

🗳️

Your stake registers as a vote — skin in the game equals voice in the outcome

📊

The aggregate of all allocations is the public will, in real time, with no interpretation

The first step

Before we scale,
5,000 Oregonians draft the rules.

Demos is not handed down by a founder. The 5,000-resident founding cohort uses the protocol itself to draft a working civic constitution — wealth ceiling, allocation mechanics, eligible programs, dispute resolution. Only when the cohort ratifies it do we open registration to every Oregonian.

Phase 01

Waitlist

Oregon residents register interest now. Verified at launch.

Phase 02

Founding cohort

5,000 verified residents receive DMT in October 2026. Deliberation begins.

Phase 03

Constitution drafted

The cohort uses Demos to author and ratify a working civic constitution.

Phase 04

Statewide rollout

Registration opens to every Oregon resident. The system scales under rules the people made.

Community programs

Where allocations flow.

Citizens vote on which programs the commons funds. The founding cohort decides the final list. These are the programs the protocol is being designed to support — concrete community impact, not financial return.
